YMCA Pickup

Kids who normally go to the YMCA after school each afternoon can still attend chess club.  The YMCA will pick up the children in the cafeteria at 4:15 pm.  Please inform the YMCA that they will be in chess club on Tuesday and inform us that they will be picked up by the YMCA.  This also applies to the after school chess classes in the elementary art room.

Historically, the YMCA has also provided care for those children who need extended care just on Tuesdays after chess.  The fee has been relatively high at $8 per Tuesday, but it is available.  Sign up for that service through the YMCA.  Because of the expense, most families work out less formal arrangements and car pools with other parents in the club.

Please note:  if on a particular day you wish to pick up your child from the cafeteria, you as the parent must get there before the YMCA is ready to leave, or send a written note with your child, or send an email Monday night or call me.   I do not rely on a child's verbal message.  We have had numerous cases where children were mistaken, or there was a miscommunication between the parent and child.  It is tough on everyone when the child does not get picked up, we can't reach a parent by phone, and we have to call the YMCA to come back over and get the child.  So my policy is:  if I have not heard anything from the parent, and the parent is not there by the time the YMCA is ready to leave which is always after pick up time at 4:15, then that child goes to the YMCA as usual.  Please reassure your children that you will always be able to find them.  If they are not in the cafeteria, you will go over to the YMCA to get them
