Sibling Club

Siblings at T. H. Rogers who do not want to play chess

Siblings of children in the club and who attend T. H. Rogers are allowed to come and do homework or play other games such as scrabble (which we have available) in the back of the cafeteria.  That way parents only need to drive to the school once on Tuesday to pick up their children.  However, this is not a general baby sitting service for siblings of kids on sports teams and the like.  It is only for siblings of chess club members.  To sign a sibling up, please:

  • Complete a registration form, but write sibling club at the top.

  • Pay $25.  Checks can be made out to T. H. Rogers.  This is a snack fee.  The parents serving snacks change every week and otherwise would have no idea who is a paid chess club member or a sibling.  Therefore, snacks are available to the entire room.

Siblings who are not at T. H. Rogers but do want to play chess

Sometimes an entire family does not all get into Rogers at the same time.  Some grades have no openings.  In these cases, we have on occasion allowed a parent to bring the sibling to our chess club.   These are the requirements:

  • There is no chess club at the sibling's home school.

  • The family is applying to get the sibling into T. H. Rogers for the following year.

  • The sibling already knows how the pieces move.  Remember, grades K-3 get their chess lesson during the school day, not during club time.

  • The parent must stay and assist.

  • Complete a registration form, but write the name of the school at the top

  • Pay the $50 per semester fee.
