Any student wishing to test for higher rank, must
meet certain requirements. The homework portions of those
requirements are outlined below.

Complete Bain's Chess Rules
for Students. The book is available for free
through the chess club. Completion of the book is worth 10
points. Also complete the
Checkmate/Stalemate problem set. This problem set is worth
5 points. |
| Knight |
Complete 2 Knight level Problem Sets. They are
available both online and in hard copy at the club. Each
problem set is a series of 24 checkmate-in-one puzzles.
Problem Set #1 has easier puzzles.
Problem Set #2 is a little more
challenging. Each problem set is worth 5 points. |
| Bishop |
Bishop level Problem Sets are taken from Bain's
Chess Tactics for Students,
These problem sets are a subset of the chess team's Level 1 homework.
Students may borrow the workbook from the chess club and put all
their answers on notebook paper, or they may buy a copy of the
workbook for $10. Each problem set is worth 3 points.
