Results from the State Meet Sent 3/29/04 |
| 25 T. H.
Rogers students competed with 1650 (or so) scholastic chess players from
all over the state of Texas this past weekend in the 2004 Texas Scholastic
Chess Championship. This was the first state level meet we have ever
attended as a team, and by far the largest and most challenging
tournament. As a matter of fact, the Texas Scholastic is the largest
state meet in the entire country. Only the nationals are bigger. So how did we do? Great! Every team brought home a trophy, and 2/3's of the T. H. Rogers students garnered individual awards. The tournament awards trophies to the top 20 individuals in each section and to the top 20 teams. However, because some of the sections have 200 competitors, 20 trophies would only go to the top 10%, a pretty high standard. Therefore, they also award Honorable Mention medals to other deserving players with winning records. Kindergarten - First Grade Championship Division
