TH Rogers ties Village School for 1st

Sent 1/10/05

The T. H. Rogers Chess team turned in another strong performance tying the Village School for first place on their home turf, even though they outnumbered us 5 to 1.   They had over 100 players, ...  we brought 20.  While both teams scored 17 points (out of a possible 20), the tie break system gave Village the 1st place trophy and T. H. Rogers the 2nd place trophy.  It can be seen on display in the Main Office for a few days.

Third grader Tristan Lim had an outstanding day turning in a perfect 5.0 score to win his division.  Way to go Tristan!

Also, playing well yesterday and earning 4 points each were:

  • Edward Yun, 4th grade and
  • Shantan Cheemerla, 5th grade, tying each other for second in their division.

And, in multiway ties for second place in their respective divisions were sisters:

  • Ellen Xiang, 2nd grade and
  • Evan Xiang, Kindergarten

Many thanks to Coach Evan Michaelides and our new Coach Jeff Ashton for the excellent game analysis!

Martha
