In House Tournaments Start Again Tomorrow Our in-house tournament program starts up again tomorrow. We will run 2 this spring. These are rated events. These tournaments are an excellent opportunity for the team members to practice the skills they need at our big outside events, and for non-team members to get a taste of what tournament competition is like. Any club member can participate. All that is required is a current USCF membership. This can be bought for $13 and is good for an entire year. If your child does not have one, you can get it by shopping at the following link: http://www.shopuschess.org/cgi-bin/SoftCart.exe/scstore/b-MbrDtl.php3?L+scstore+onsu0719+1093378375#ScholReg There are no other fees (because we don't give out trophies) or registration forms to complete. They just need to tell us that they want to play and have a current USCF membership. Please note, once they sign up for a tournament, they have to play all 5 rounds. They can't play one week and not the next. Also, if your child wants to play in tomorrow's event, and did not sign up (a lot of kids were absent last Tuesday), please let me know today. The following is a list of kids who signed up for the tournament starting tomorrow, but who have either need a new USCF membership or need to renew and expired membership.
When you have it, please send me their membership number and
expiration date. Thanks. Klein Winter Scholastic - January 22nd As I said before, I expect virtually the whole team to be at the Klein Winter Scholastic and the Regionals. Both are one day, local tournaments. The deadline for registering for Klein at the cheap ($10) rate is next Wednesday (the check and registration form must be received by then). But don't forget the Martin Luther King holiday. I would send it by this weekend. Online, late or phone registration is $15. If your child is not on the team, but still wants to play, that is fine, just let me know. As of January 6th, Mr. Liptrap had received the following registrations:
In case you can't find my original
recommendations re: which division is appropriate for your child, I am
reattaching them below.
