Practice over Winter Break and Team Tournament Sent 11/30/03 |

Winter Break Practice The Thanksgiving vacation chess practice went quite well. The kids, parents, and instructors decided they were interested in doing it again over the Winter break. So,..... there will be at least one 2 morning session. We have settled on Monday, December 22nd and Tuesday, December 23rd.... same time, same place. In other words, 9 am -12 noon at the Houston Chess Club. The fee for the 6 hours of training will be $20. Because of the small size of the facility, we are completely constrained to a maximum of 20 kids. I will look for a larger facility, but I am not particularly hopeful that I will find one in the next 3 weeks. Again, the primary focus of this is to help our serious tournament chess players get ready for the regional and state meets coming up in February and March. They have the first option on the 20 slots. If they do not fill them all, we will open to other T. H. Rogers recreational players, then to non-Rogers siblings and friends. Even if you spoke to me at the previous session, I need an email confirmation from all who are planning to attend. I have had a house full of company all week and I don't remember who said what. So far, I have the following kids signed up for the Winter break practice on Dec 22 and 23:
We might also consider an after Christmas session if there is enough
interest. The informal poll of the parents at the Thanksgiving practice
indicated most wanted the 22nd and 23rd so they could finish their holiday
shopping.... If you are interested in something during the week after
Christmas, please let me know. December 13th team tournament I need the final list of kids competing in the team tournament on Saturday Dec 13th. If your child is on the chess team, please let me know either way, yes or no. I have heard some of the kids have Chinese school finals that day. I don't want to be thinking your child is just late getting their stuff to me, if you already know they are not competing. Remember, for this tournament, I will need multiples of 4 in both elementary and middle school divisions. So far, I have the following kids signed up: Middle School
Elementary School
