Sign Up Now for October 18th Tournament

Sent 10/5/03

Now is the time to get signed up for the October 18th tournament here at T. H. Rogers.  To download the flyer and entry form, go to: http://liptrap.topcities.com/HCARogers.doc .   Mail the form with your check this week (postmarked by October 11) and you will get the $7 rate.   Online entry costs $10 and  is available at: http://liptrap.topcities.com/chess.htm.   If you enter online, you pay at the tournament Saturday morning, the 18th.

You do not have to be on the chess team to participate.  However, I do expect virtually all of the chess team to to be there.  Getting to this tournament will be easier than virtually any of the others.  We are asking all chess team members to play in the United States Chess Federation (USCF) rated sections.  If you have not yet joined the USCF, please do so at the tournament.  There is not enough time left to sign up directly through the USCF and get an your id number back.  If money is an issue, (either the tournament fee itself or the USCF membership fee) please speak with me.  We do not want the fees to prevent any child from participating.  Non-chess team members may choose to play in either the USCF or the non-USCF sections.

Once your child has signed up, please email me their name and grade so I know who is actually going.  So far, I have one child:

  1. Jim Jenkinson     3rd grade

A number of people have told me verbally, but I really want an email.  My old brain just doesn't remember like it use to.

Finally, please remember that we will need many volunteers to make this tournament work smoothly.  We will need help late Friday afternoon (from pickup time - 3 pm - on until we are done) setting up the gym and cafeteria.  We will also need help all day Saturday  -  probably about 10 adults working the entire day (actually each of those individuals could be 2 adults, one working a morning shift and one working an afternoon shift).  If you can not fulfill your family obligation to the club on Tuesday afternoon, this is your chance for the Fall semester to help out on a weekend.
