Please find below an excerpt of our
tournament schedule for the next few months. The full schedule in on
our website -
www.throgerschess.com. The events highlighted in yellow are the
designated tournaments for the month. Usually we only designate one per
month, but February is unusual as both the State and Regionals are that
month. We are asking the entire team to attend both.
Very few people are actually following up with me regarding their
attendence at the State and Nationals. Please let me know your plans.
It is hard to have the proper amount of coaching available without
knowing who is going. Also, they have a location and date for the team
tournament. It is the Saturday after school ends for winter break. The
kids love this event. It is unrated, they get to form 4 person teams
and give themselves a team name (last year we had the Mutant Furballs of
Eternal Doom, the Killer E's, etc.). The kids have a lot of team spirit
and generally have a great time. Unlike everyother event, though, sign
up for the team tournament is through me. Please email me if your child
wants to attend. They make pick their own teams or I will assign them.

So far, the USCF has the following registrations for the National
Grade. Remember the deadline for the lower entry fee ($32) is this
Monday, November 7th. After that, the price goes up $20! So get
those entries in now. The server could be really slow come Sunday, as
another 2000 folks will be trying to get their entries in this weekend.

When entering online (highly recommended), please remember to use our
school code TXTHRO. The paper entry form does not have a blank for the
code, but you can put it next to the school name. That will save time
and prevent data entry errors. I expect the entire team to turn out for
this event. Only 1/3 are signed up so far. Lots of you have told me
you are going, so save your $20 and get your registration done now.
