summer 2004 program is over, we do hope to hold a similar program next
summer. |

Thursday nights, 6:30 -
8:30 pm

Open to T. H. Rogers
students, siblings, parents, friends, camp participants and other
scholastic players

Thursday nights are
informal. This is chess club, not chess class. While we
should have at least 2 coaches there every Thursday, their primary
function will be game analysis, not a formal lesson in front of a demo
board. Formal instruction is offered at camp and during the Monday
(Advanced) and Tuesday (Intermediate) night team training sessions.

That said, if a group of
beginners start coming who are in need of instruction, we will offer a
short lesson at that level at the start of each session.

Rules |

You may not drop your
children off at the door to the building. You must walk in and sign
your children in just as if you were taking them to camp at the science
museum. Ditto for picking them up. It is required that you leave an
emergency phone number on the sign in form. These are standard safety
precautions.

The Weslayan Building closes at 8:30 pm. So, you must be
timely in picking up your child.

Do not send a hungry child. Please feed
them dinner before they come. Parents assuming their children can wait
to eat until 8:30 or 9 pm at night was a problem last summer. There will
be no snacks or drinks in the room. A hungry child can not
concentrate.

If you are bringing a toddler
or other non-chess playing child and staying for the entire session,
please bring something for them to do. Some Legos, crayons and paper,
or books would be appropriate. They should be quietly occupied, not
running around.

If I do not have a current registration form for your child, please
complete the Summer Chess Registration Form. If I have a
2004 Summer Camp registration form, that is sufficient
unless any of the information has changed.

Please bring the form with
you the first time your child attends. Or, during the month of
May, you may mail it to:

Please do not
mail them in the summer. I am not sure I will be at the school
often enough after camp ends on June 18th, to pick up any additional
mailed forms.
