Who

Students who will be on the T. H. Rogers Chess Team next fall.

  • Note that these classes are for serious students only.  Coach David wants to move the team forward significantly this summer.  There will be homework and high expectations for behavior and effort.

  • If your child was not on the team this year, but would like to join the team next year, please contact me before sending a registration form and check.  Because we are not offering a beginner class, we will need to evaluate his/her playing level to see if one of these classes is appropriate.

  • Enrollment limited to 12 students per class.

  • If not enough of the team is in town and the classes do not fill, we will open registration to others.  Priority will go to other T. H. Rogers students who are interested in attending and to siblings.

Fees

$80 per student, irrespective of how many weeks your child will actually be there.

However, as with all of our programs, we do not want the fee to be a barrier to any child's participation.  Financial aid is available to families as needed.

Registration Please email me right away.  By May 14, if I do not already have a camp registration form, I will need a Summer Chess Registration Form and a check made payable to T. H. Rogers.
Rules
  • You may not drop your child off at the door to the building, even if they are in middle school.  You must walk in and sign your child in just as if you were taking them to camp at the science museum.  For one thing, this ensures that Coach David is not stuck in a traffic jam and you are not dropping your child off at an empty building.  You must also sign your child out.  We will not release them to the parking lot.  It is required that you leave an emergency phone number on the sign in form.  These are standard safety precautions.

  • The Weslayan Building closes at 8:30 pm.  So, you must be timely in picking up your child.

  • Do not send a hungry child.  Please feed them dinner before they come.  Parents assuming their children can wait until 8:30 or 9 pm at night to eat dinner was a problem last summer.  There will be no snacks or drinks in the room.  A hungry child can not concentrate.

  • You may send a bottle of water.
