State and National Meets

 

School Year 2005 - 2006

 

General Information

 

It is each family's responsibility to pay for the transportation, food, lodging, and entry fees for each member of their family traveling to the meet.  The club will provide financial aid (to the extent possible) to those families for whom participation would otherwise be impossible. 

 

In general state meets are held over 2 days, Saturday and Sunday.   For those events, I recommend traveling on the Friday before and the Monday after.  National meets usually start on Friday.  Therefore, traveling on Thursday works the best. 

 

All Kindergarten-2nd graders must be accompanied by a parent.  3rd - 8th graders may travel under the supervision of another parent with a signed consent form.  However, there must be an adult in every hotel room.  That means we need at least one responsible parent for each 3-4 older children.

Transportation Most families drove themselves or carpooled to Plano.  Friday is an early dismissal day, with the kids getting out from school at 12:45.  If possible, I would suggest leaving right from school at that time.  That gets you to Plano by dinner time, and the kids get a good night's sleep.  Always a good idea.
Hotel Last year each room was $75 per night (plus 13% tax) and they will allow up to 5 per room.  Therefore, you are welcome to share rooms to keep the cost down.  There must, however, be one adult per room.
