The Texas Open was held Dec. 30/31, 2000 and Jan. 1, 2001 at the Airport Hilton Hotel in San Antonio. NM Mikhail Langer of Austin was the clear winner of the Open section, scoring 5 out of a possible 6 points and winning $410. Tied for 2nd place were NM's Selby Anderson and Jim Gallagher of San Antonio who won $103 each with 4.5. Don Sutherland won 1st U2200 and $205 also with 4.5; Bill Wheeler, John Hendrick and Andres Suarez tied for 2nd U2200 with 4 winning $34 each. J.P. Hyltin and Paul Haney (1287!) shared the 1st & 2nd U2000 prizes also with 4 points and $123 each.
