2000 Texas Action Champ. Mikhail Langer |
NM Mikhail Langer (above) from Austin was the clear winner
of the five round Texas Action Championship (game/30 tournament) held April
1 at the Methodist Specialty and Transplant Center in San Antonio. He scored
five points and won $250. Tied for the second place prize were NM's Bill
Reuter and Selby Anderson, plus expert Ali Morshedi with four points -
they split $100. Also with four points tying for second place were Chris
Pitts, Jesse Buentello and Alan Rodenstein who split the U2100 and U1900
prizes for $63.33 each. Tyson Slesnick (1274) with 3.5 points won the U1700
prize of $80. Adit Wongsaroj, Anthony Guerra and Bill Hill with 3 points
split the combined U1500 and U1300 prizes for $43.33 each. The 47 player
tournament was directed by Greg Wren for the San Antonio Chess Club.
